Over at the Game Developers Conference, Nintendo has announced a new Zelda game for the DS handheld. Cel-shaded Link is making a return in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.
Using similar touch-screen controls to Phantom Hourglass, this new adventure sees Link getting to places on a steam train.
Further details are sketchy, but the first video is already out, showing off some gameplay.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

It's not what I expected but it'll have dungeons, puzzles, and Link. That's about all they really needed to get me to buy this game. Plus I love trains.

Honestly, this looks good and fun.

A train?

Looks amazing, but for a while there, I thought he was going to turn that poor sheep into a roadkill.

Goddamn, what about the Wii?

Looking good! Hope it's without the time element this time because I really hate doing dungeons within a set time like in the Phantom Hourglass. Interesting to see what's up with the train.

I think they're still working on one for the Wii too. Remember, eiji aounuma says both Zelda teams are very hard at work, and I doubt both teams are working on one DS Zelda.

Looks interesting enough.

Man the DSi graphics look pretty damn good for hand held.

They're no different than ds, conduit-kid.

Heracross, ATTACK.

They said it was going to be released in 2009, right? Doesn't that seem like not enough time? Considering phantom hourglass was released after Twilight Princess, like less than two years ago, maybe it's a little.. rushed. Nevertheless I'm glad we get a new Zelda and they take the time to work on the Wii version.

Why didn't they make it for the Wii instead of the ds? But it still looks awesome.

I have one question. Why people (not in this site) bitch about trains?
Darkrai said:
This actually looks pretty cool. I wanted a Zelda game for Wii, though.
SmashFanatic said:
They're the same graphics as the other ds.
Brawler200 said:
I don't know, I just hope (for the sake of my sanity) they make the train part exciting.
Tone said:
A train?! The Japanese make some great games but they just don't get the western fantasy mythos do they?
YoshLee said:
@SmashFanatic: OOT and MM had the same graphics (or at the very least they were very similar) yet they both turned out to be great LOZ games.

Zelda on rails, literally on rails.

Looks okay, might get this, had to finish Phantom Hourglass first.

Looks sweet! I'm very hopeful for this game.

I thought they were going for the Wii this time! I mean, it looks good, but I want more action, and I just think you can get more action from the Wii.
