Sakurai has put some minds at rest this morning, the latest update on the official Smash Bros Brawl site confirms support for every control scheme you could ask for, including the Wiimote, Wiimote and Nunchuk pairing, Classic Controller and the all-singing, all-dancing Gamecube pad.

Does anyone think wavebirds will still work?
Wii Freak said:
I'm using classic or the gamecube controller.
Chaos said:
I'm sure this is what everybody wanted to hear. Now the real challenge is which controller to choose.
Koen van Beeck said:
Dude. That's the awesomest. Ever. I wonder how the Wiimote alone would work though. It doesn't seem to have a lot of buttons, and A and B are a bit awkward.
Sweet said:
I don't need to buy another wiimote.
Wiimaster said:
Sakurai you are a great mind!
Master Foot said:
Rumor has it that the sixaxis is compatible.
stinky12694 said:
Thank you god! Biggest announcement on that site.
The Hamburgler said:
Hmm Wii remote turned on its side is an interesting choice. But I'll go with remote/nunchuk.
ikasu said:
Awesome, wiimote and nunchuck compatibility. Wonder how that's going to work. Can't wait to try it out and master all the new controls.
Jskrdude said:
Woot! I wasn't really worried though because I have 4 wiimotes, 2 nunchucks, 2 wavebirds and a classic controller. But at least now I can pick the most comfortable choice. Which would be a gamecube controller or the wiimote with nunchuck (nunchucks are so comfortable).
GClover said:
WOW! GC controller on the SSBB? Now the game is going to be good! I want to put something else here. I found something saying that "tingle" (character from zelda MM) is going to join this game and, Nintendo maybe is going to release SSBB for GameCube too.
Fire Emblem Fan 14 said:
I would use the classic controller or the gamecube one because it would just be a waste to use the Wii-mote.
Gonzo said:
I'll either use the Wiimote + Nunchuck or the Classic Controller. Those are interesting ideas, a lot of different ways to play this.
Ekaj185 said:
I'm either gonna use the classic controller or the Gamecube controller for playing 2P. I'll use the Wiimote in single player though.
Crimson Hawk said:
I would much rather use the Gamecube controller for the game.
Dawgtown24/7 said:
Cool if I'm too lazy to plug in the gamecube controller I can just use a wiimote.
Captain Jamesman said:
I'm really surprised to hear that. I was told before that the game was only going to use a classic or gamecube controller. I think I'll try the Wii Remote/Nunchuk controls first.
nintendo rules said:
Man Nintendo is so smart, I have a gamecube controller, 2 Wii remotes and a nunchuck. Right now I could have 3 players. Nintendo's always thinking. That's why I love them so much.
soulbreather said:
I think the Wii mote and/or nunchuck would be awkward.
dh99 said:
Gamecube controller would be the easiest to play with.
B Darius said:
Wait a minute. How can play "Brawl" with only the Wii Remote? Is it for minigames or something?
eldar said:
We can actually use a Nintendo gamecube controller for brawl! Yes yes yes.
eric ♥ wii said:
Wow! Awesome. I'm going to use either wiimote side ways or wiimote and nunchuk. I don't don't have a gamecube controller.
Crimson Hawk said:
I think the Wii remote and the nunchuck would be very uncomfortable to use.
Lady X said:
Good time to plug in the old gamecube remote! I hope they tweak the characters a little but I'm going to play it anyway so it don't matter. Sheik rules all.
Wayne Campbell said:
I have two Wii motes, two nunchuks, and four GameCube Controllers so I am good.
ganondorfrules said:
Yea the classic and GC controller would be best for SSBB in my opinion.
BrothaZ said:
I'm going to get good with all the schemes like Sakurai told me to. The wiimote on its side looks like it'll involve the most motion sensor controlling.
Andrew said:
Sakurai you the man!
Charizard98 said:
So will SSBB be for Gamecube or what?
KOOL-AID said:
No it will just be GC controller compatible.
Fire Emblem Fan 14 said:
No! SSBB could be up to 8 players with 4 gamecube remotes and 4 wii-motes.
Sonic Phantom said:
No, you can play your Gamecube controller on Super Smash Bros Brawl. Brawl will be for Wii only.
Soul Lock said:
No, don't think so Charizard, you can only use the Gamecube controllers. You have to own a Nintendo Wii to play it.
rockmace said:
Anyone wonders how can this affect the "advanced techniques", if those glitches remain unfixed? Now, using the old gamecube controllers will be so last-gen.
EDD said:
Classic controller and gamecube controller are my choices.
gunky said:
I'm going to try the wiimote and nunchuk I can sorata imagine the controls.
