Reportedly in final stages of development
French programmer Smealum, has announced that a Homebrew Channel for the Nintendo 3DS is imminent. The channel will work on current 3DS firmware, and should run on North American, European, and Japanese systems.
Smealum has emphasized that the channel will not be able to run 3DS game ROMS, nor will a flashcard be required to run it. Smealum stated the purpose of the channel is to support homebrew games and apps, although he vaguely hints that some emulators will be functional. The channel will also allow players the option to bypass the system's region locking.
It still remains to be seen what actions, if any, Nintendo plans to take against Smealum and his upcoming homebrew channel.
