Area Effect Announces Izle for Wii U

Part action, part adventure, all cel-shaded

Earlier today, Paris based developer Area Effect announced their first title for the Nintendo Wii U, Izle. Developed by Area Effect, Izle is a third person action adventure RPG that will be available sometime in 2016. Set in a desolate world, Izle begins with only a single land mass and tasks players to use the "power of the gods" to rebuild the world. In addition to building a new world, players must also defend their lands from evil forces. However, since each world is randomly generated, each playthrough promises to offer unique experiences to players. Character customization will also play a large role in Izle, as players are able to forge items and acquire new abilities, allowing them to play their character in any way they want.

Area Effect, a team of former Ubisoft employees, has released a few mobile titles in the past, but Izle will be their first console outing. The founder of Area Effect, Alexis Bacot, called Izle a "passion project" and also mentioned that he was very happy to see the reaction the game has received in its early stages.

Izle is currently seeking players to participate in a closed alpha for the game. Additional information regarding the alpha signup is available on their website. Players who participate in the closed alpha will also be made "Ambassadors of Izle" which will grant them special rewards. In addition to the alpha, Area Effect will also be launching a Kickstarter in the spring of 2015 to raise funding for the project. You can see the first trailer for the game below, and more screen shots, information, and a sneak peak at the game's soundtrack can be found at the Izle website.

What did you think of the Izle trailer? Let us know in the comments below if this is a game you'll be keeping an eye on. You can also get in contact with the developers through social media and let them know your thoughts on the project.
