A snippet in Nintendo Power magazine shows that the Live Arcade hit Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved will have a new incarnation exclusive to Nintendo platforms.
The game is being worked on by Kuju Entertainment, the people behind Battalion Wars. Its title will be Geometry Wars: Galaxies.
Galaxies will feature an extensive single player game, as well as multiplayer options. The motion controls of the Wiimote will be fully utilized. If that wasn't enough, the original "Retro Evolved" game will be bundled in as well.
Expect Geometry Wars: Galaxies to hit the shelves around Fall this year.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

Shweet. I would have expected it more as a download though.

I've never heard of this game. Is it geometry like math and shapes, like an educational game?

Ahh, cool. It was okay on the Xbox 360, but with the whole "pointing with the remote" thing will make it by far better.

It better not be a damn edutainment game. Those are the worst besides Disney games. Then again, most Disney games are edutainment. A double-whammy of ultra boredom and utter shit.

Retro Evolved or "Geometry Wars" as it was better known, originally was a minigame developed by a programmer working for the Project Gotham Racing 3 team to test the Xbox controller inputs. Another team member saw its potential and they decided to include it in PGR3. It was a huge success, and ended up becoming the number 1 most downloaded game on the Xbox Live arcade. It is basically synonymous with Xbox Live Arcade nowadays. I was really surprised it was coming to Wii since it was previously a Microsoft exclusive. Does this mean it will show up on the PoS3?

The fact that an Xbox Live exclusive like Geometry Wars is confirmed for Wii and DS gives more credence to other Playstation exclusives eventually being ported. This console generation is really a brutal battle and PS3 is losing big time. With most of its bankable exclusives jumping ship, there is no urgent reason to buy one until 2009. Whatever, Wii has Geometry Wars!

No, you're this ship thing and it's like asteroids, but everything is neon and you shoot more than floating rocks. Like alien bugs or something.

Geometry wars is where you play a little starcraft shaped object and shoot different shapes (hence the geometry) and rack up points.

It was a sleeper hit. Don't diss it! It was previosly Xbox exclusive so this is interesting.

It will be a true war when the Wii has lots of online things like the 360. That is what I'm waiting for.
