A representative for Nintendo has offered up an explanation on why they chose to use "i" in the name of the new DSi handheld. Any similarities with the iPod are purely coincidental.
"The "i" is symbolic of the subject "I" and its personal aspect. Plus, the addition of two cameras gives the system its own "eye" on things. Nintendo hope that the Nintendo DSi becomes more than a game system and more of a personal tool to enrich our daily lives".
So there's We (Wii) and I (DSi). What will those geniuses think of next.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

You will be their next move. Or they. Who the hell knows.

Yeah, right. And the next Wii will be WiiU.

No, the "i" stands for INDIFFERENT, it shouldn't be worth it. It's just an upgrade of the original ds, they didn't make any new games for it.

What about they? Or their (dare).

I'm more interested in the name of the sequel to the Wii console. I mean Wii 2 sounds kind of bland.

Okay, you guys sound like Nintendo haters. GTFO, don't doubt Nintendo you noobs.

DSi= crap! Let's spend another $130 for the same old thing with stupid upgrades, come on it's about gaming not life enhancements. I have an awesome digital camera so buying this is a huge waste of money.

The same old thing 2x system clock speed and 4x ram that's easy 2.5 plus DS, plus dual cameras, plus flash drive, plus sd card reader, how is THAT the same thing? My own take on I obviously "i"nformation "i"nteract "i"nnovation "i" generation "i"nternet. I is a reflection of the "i" age, the information age. I would have thought that was OBVIOUS to like erm everyone, or am I the last remaining thinking person on earth.

It's waste of time the DSi, if they really wanted innovation, they'd make a disc based handheld with GameCube or Wii graphics. My digital camera and iPod can do the same things and I keep the $130.

The iWii will be out shortly. I'm just kidding.

Why so negative. The DS is still quite popular and it's pretty much the best handheld console in this generation so please stfu.
PHiRE said:
Happy enough with my DS Lite for the time being, but yea the DSi is probably the best handheld ever made.

I bet those guys are a bunch of fanboys.

Why on gods green earth would anyone want a disc based handheld in an sd card era? Sony fanboys are here, start your anti-idiot protection software Wii's World.
Zendalf said:
In the poll, I said I wouldn't get this because I have the original, BUT I changed my mind when I heard about the built in web browser. That definitely makes it worth it for me.
Darunia said:
I'm getting it. My ds lite broke so badly. I dropped it so many times! And the anti-idiot protection software is broken. There was a guy over on the "new Zelda game already in the works" forum that asked for a Zelda game without all the dungeons and items.
Son Ninja said:
DS + internet = DSi. At least that's what I think it represents. Then again it might refer to the two cameras on it as well. Remember the DS lite, lite refer to both the size and the lighting so in reference, it actually means it's liter (slimmer or skinnier) but brighter.
