Everyone's favorite lawyer Phoenix Wright was originally intended to be a playable character in the beat 'em up Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes, along with his whip-cracking adversary Franziska von Karma.
Von Karma's attacks were a given, being whip-centric, but the moveset for Phoenix himself posed problems. The team first thought about an attack using the word "OBJECTION", but the difference between the English and Japanese lettering meant localization would have been made more difficult.
Ultimately these complications meant Phoenix and von Karma were cut altogether. Shame, there must be a plethora of other moves he could have used.

*Sniffs* what a load of crap. Couldn't they have just shrunk the characters to the same size as the Japanese ones or just keep them Japanese letters? Any Phoenix Wright fan probably knows how popular he is in Japan so it would make sense to them, and I doubt anyone who wasn't familiar with the series would care as long as he actually SPOKE the work OBJECTION! Let's hope they make a sequel to TvC with Wright in it and they overfill the roster like they did in the second Marvel vs Capcom (loved the arcade game).

This is a load of crap, why cut him out, he could have been unique.

If capcom wants to make up for excluding Wright they should put Arthur from ghosts 'n goblins in TvC. There's no reason for them not to, Arthur's got an awesome NES game and he's already been shown in Soki's arcade ending. Also for the Tatsunoko side let's see someone from the Samurai Pizza Cats.

I've never played a Phoenix Wright game but I can tell you OBJECTION! Any character can have a moveset.

Mischief Shadow: I agree if they can give ROLL a house cleaning robot who I don't think has ever even been playable in a megaman game they can give a moveset for just about anyone.
