The latest firmware update 4.0 for the Wii console brings what many have been calling for since launch. SD card support is now much more operational and games can be launched from the cards.
Nintendo has also added support for high capacity (SDHC) cards, allowing for over 2Gb to be used.
What does this all mean?

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

So WIIBOY101 stated this all along and the hard drive fetish club members wouldn't listen. Typical, the stupid never do change. Like I stated, there'll be NO hard drive. Has that NOW sunk in? Has the penny dropped? Like Nintendo would EVER use a damn hard drive.

This happening was just common sense.

This should have been done the day Wii came out. I don't even know how they overlooked that until now. But still more space means more games.

This just means we'll be looking at DLCs. Although I've been against DLCs, since it seems like a really poor excuse for developers on not finishing their jobs. But on the bright side, we might even get new characters for brawl even. Although, this is just a guess. Seeing as though the guitar hero DLC for the Wii was not ineffective, there is still hope.

Yes. Now I can actually go out and buy another points card and not have to delete any games.

I think this means that wiiware games will start to get better. Before, Nintendo was giving a size limit to wiiware games. Hopefully they'll change that now.

Sweet I just downloaded it today. I think it came out yesterday (3/25/09). Actually, this is how it worked before: if you fill up your Wii menu, you can't buy more games. You have to delete 1 to fill in the spot of another game. But if you want to play that game again, delete another one then go rebuy the same game again on Wii shop channel for 0 points.

It actually works really well. I wouldn't recommend getting an sd card over 2gb, because that equals 15000 blocks on the Wii, which is probably enough to fill the whole 240 game slots you get. I went out and got a high speed sd card for 20 bucks on Saturday and it takes about a second to load a game. Just don't go out and get a crappy dollar store card. The Wii only had about 2000 blocks to start with, which is about less than a quarter gb. Hopefully this is what they do with the dsi, otherwise we'll be in the same jam. And Nova, as for better wiiware games, that should happen. Personally, I hope that we developers will follow in the steps of mega man 9 and release super mario bros 4 and the legend of zelda 3, and kid icarus 2. That would pwn.
