Alongside today's news about Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Nintendo has also announced new information about the amiibo. The first news came in the form of a second wave of figurines launching in December.

These latest figures will will join the first wave of Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth, which launch in November.
Nintendo also offered some information about the future of amiibo compatibility. Upcoming titles Mario Party 10 and Yoshi's Woolly World will support amiibo. While Mario Kart 8 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will be updated with amiibo compatibility at a later date.
amiibo will be available at retail in November for $12.99. They will be compatible with the Wii U at launch, with the figures needing to be tapped on the GamePad to be used. Details on 3DS compatibility was not revealed at this time.
