Long-awaited port is almost here
WayForward's Shantae was an action-adventure game for the Game Boy Color. It was released 2002-very late in the handheld's lifespan- after the Game Boy Advance had launched. Due to this, many players did not notice the game at the time despite rave reviews from critics. Since then, it has become a collector's item for Nintendo fans, going for upwards of $130 on eBay.
After the release and success of its sequel, Risky's Revenge, on DSiWare, WayForward announced that they would be porting the original game to the 3DS eShop.
Today, the company has revealed the launch date of the Virtual Console version:
Unfortunately we will not be able to announce a specific release date (June 20th) at this time. Check back angrily and often at www.wayforward.com to discover the Shantae's secret release date (that's June 20th) in the days and weeks ahead. See you on June 20th!
