Rumors swirl online of an impending announcement
Back in 2013, Nintendo and Atlus unveiled Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, a crossover game between the two cult franchises. Since that initial announcement (and a quick trailer) there has been no reports on the game.
At this past year's E3, Nintendo producer, Hitoshi Yamagami, confirmed that the game was still on schedule. However, no footage, or screenshots were shown. This was quite a strange thing - given how long the game had been in development.
Now, rumors have started making their way through the Internet, that the game has been scrapped. The original source - 4chan - is questionable, but its users have been known to be right on some occasions.
The original post has since been taken down, but thanks to Nintendo Life, we get the drift of what has led to the "supposed" cancellation. According to the post, the main issue seems to be that the Shin Megami Tensei team and Fire Emblem team had two very different viewpoints on how the game should be handled. It was also mentioned that the game had to be restarted 5 times, which greatly affected the team's morale. Finally, they were able to put up a version of the game for approval, however, both Nintendo and Atlus denied it, saying that the game did not meet the standards set by either company.
The post states that IGN will be announcing the cancellation tomorrow. Until then, take this rumor with a grain of salt...
So do you believe that the project has been scrapped? Do you have faith that Nintedno and Atlus can pull this crossover off? Let us know in the comment below.

That would actually be pretty disappointing, but we haven't seen or heard a thing on the game since that initial teaser back in 2013, so I wouldn't be too surprised. I was wondering about this when Atlus was bought by Sega last year, and I wonder if that buyout is part of the reason for this project getting axed.
Well, I guess on the plus side this will give the teams time to work on new core series titles instead of this cross over. I wouldn't mind seeing a new SMT and/or Fire Emblem to make up for this.

I believe it. I knew it as soon as I found out the first FE game on Wii U was a crossover that it was doomed. Never made any sense. It's a shame though, Awakening was breathtaking.

I honestly just want a Fire Emblem for Wii U. It would be sick. Still, if this game sees the light of day then it will be an instant purchase for me. I mean nothing bad against the SMT series as I'm just more a Fire Emblem fan. Either way, a new entree related to Fire Emblem on the Wii U would be great.
