Retro devolution
Kickstarter has opened the doors for many developers to make their way onto the console gaming scene. One of the most notable success stories from Kickstarter is that of Yacht Club Games and their title, Shovel Knight.
Yesterday the latest Wii U bound indie game successfully ended its Kickstarter campaign. Adventures of Pip, from TicToc Games, will be coming to the Wii U eShop in 2015. TicToc released the following about the game through its Kickstarter campaign page.
Adventures of Pip is a new take on the classic side-scrolling action platform game where the main character, Pip, evolves by absorbing pixels from his fallen foes. Those same pixels can then be used to blast through environment puzzles and enemies, devolving Pip back to a single pixel.
The game pays homage to the classics that we grew up loving, such as Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Country, Kid Icarus, and The Legend of Zelda - And then we asked each other "Can you imagine defeating a huge 32-bit boss as a single pixel or even as an 8-bit character?".
With three different forms, you can evolve and devolve Pip to solve puzzles or even defeat enemies; each with their own weakness and strength that must be unraveled in the worlds!

The team behind the game is made up of ex-WayForward employees and includes Jake "virt" Kaufman composing the game's soundtrack. Adventures of Pip will be TicToc Games' first foray onto the Wii U. Early screenshots and more information can be found on TicToc's Kickstarter page. How do you feel about this latest Kickstarter success? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
