Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong go on a quest to recover their bananas stolen by King K. Rool. This jaw-dropping platform game revived the popular Donkey Kong franchise and became one of the biggest hits of the Super Nintendo.
Donkey Kong Country used pre-rendered 3D graphics which impressed gamers all over the world. The game is not only a visual feast but also offers quite a decent challenge for advanced players. Although the main adventure is enjoyable by everyone, finding all its secrets will require some time and dedication.
Donkey Kong Country has no review on Wii's World.

Is this game for n64 or super Nintendo?
Captain Jamesman said:
I like this game!
Owlboy said:
I pray it comes to the states soon. Please please Nintendo.
Toad said:
It's Super Nintendo. It says on the top. I have it and many more dk games too.
Iza said:
Yea, I always thought the graphics on the donkey kong countries were really smooth. Once I get a classic controller, I'm getting this.
Ryan said:
Donkey Kong really had some of the best graphics that the SNES could offer. Between the Donkey Kong games and Super Mario RPG, it's pretty close which was better graphics wise (when Mario RPG came out, I thought those had the best graphics but looking back DK looks a lot better).

I looked on the shop channel and it wasn't for sale yet. If it was released December 8, then why can't I see it?
Captain Jamesman said:
You have thought right Ryan. Donkey Kong Country was (and still is) one of my most favorite games on the SNES. However, my most favorite game in the DKC series is DKC2, better than the 1st & 3rd. #2 HAS TO BE ON WII! I MEAN IT!
DragonFoxCoon said:
If they put the first on there, they should put the others. Sort of an "unwritten law" with series of high caliber.
myff said:
'wii don't like sony' I think this was a european release. You might have to wait a bit if you're not in europe for it to come to your country's virtual console.
Toad said:
I love 2. I have 1 2 3. 2 is the best. It's all about pirates, it's the best. Love dixie.
Captain Jamesman said:
Thank you for understanding the true donkey kong country game toad! That's what I like about you! Our minds think alike!
Wii Freak said:
I used to play this game at my friend's house. It was a fun game.
Ian C. said:
Really great game I had this one on GBC and 3 on SNES. I'll download this one.
Gonzo said:
Donkey Kong country, I remember this one.
Wii Freak said:
Sorry I made a mistake. I was thinking of Donkey Kong 64.
B. Darius said:
I REALLY hope that "Donkey Kong 64" comes to the VC!
Captain Jamesman said:
Let's hope B Darius. Let's hope. That game was fun.
Gonzo said:
This is fun!
Captain Jamesman said:
Thanks for correcting my sentence Gonzo.
Wii Freak said:
Guys all I said was Donkey Kong 64.
itstimetoplaydawii said:
This one and DKC 2 kept me entertained for days to even years (and I still play it now). Don't play DKC 3 though.
Toad said:
Dkc3 is a lot different from the other 2. Dkc2 rules.
Gonzo said:
They did have good graphics.
Captain Jamesman said:
You sure bet they did! They used a special type of program to make the sprites semi-3D.
The Great Gombini said:
Yes 3 was horrible, and yes, 2 WAS the best, but does anyone know the date of this game available for the states?
itstimetoplaydawii said:
This one gets a little challenging near the end. I don't have any real favorite levels like I did with #2 (the rollercoaster level!).
Gonzo said:
I need to get back my VC controller.
Wii Freak said:
I had this game on GBC.
Luigi said:
I had this game for SNES. It rocks!
Toad said:
I have it for GBA and SNES. I lost the SNES though. Really good gameplay.
Captain Jamesman said:
I sold my SNES version since I have a Wii now. All I need to do is give the Wii internet access. Speaking of which, does anybody know how?
Toad said:
What do you do if you forget your Wii password?
Captain Jamesman said:
Why not write it down on paper once you put it on the Wii I guess.
Wii Freak said:
This was a pretty good game.
Wii Wii said:
I always thought this game was for the Nintendo 64. I guess I'm wrong.
Quartzlcc said:
Like VectorMan, this game featured pre-rendered 3D graphics, which were turned into sprites. Very pretty sprites. This also made the whole "lots of sprites" process much easier after the 3D model was made.
Kael said:
Yeah yeah, it was a great game and it had the best graphics of the time. But if you think about it- most of the features were pointless. I mean what were the bananas for anyway? And collecting the letters of the word? All you really had to do was get from one end to the other end of the level. Don't get me wrong, I loved this game (when I was 7). But the total lack of storyline and purpose gives me a reason to argue why it's on the top 5.
Ryan said:
I would kill for the entire dk series to be released on the vc .
Captain Jamesman said:
Yo Kael, ever played the GBA version before?
AlexKidd said:
Hey looky here, no bongos. THIS was a great game.
Toad said:
Kael, they give you lives, and it's more of DK game with them.
Josh said:
Does anyone know when Donkey Kong Country 3:Dixie Kong's Double Trouble will be released for Virtual Console? I miss that game.
Dox said:
This was the game that started my lack of life. It was my doorway to geekdom. I'd still play it if I could find my SNES.
Lay-Z Boy said:
King K Rool's first appearance. Now he's one of DK's deadliest foes.
Coryd10 said:
The Donkey Kong games always have good graphics (well the old games) and surpassed any systems expectations.
braddo said:
DKC 3 is the absolute best in the series. One level you might be in a deep forest, climbing the inside of huge trees, on a mountain, scaling a waterfall. Plus the music is great.
Futs said:
I kind of loved them all. I remember that I got a video with this game where they show how this game was made and stuff, really spiffy. I spent a lot of great hours of gameplay with the DKC Series. Definitely a must to any Jump 'n Run Fan.
Wiipaw said:
Who compsed the music for the DKC series?
Son Ninja said:
Best graphics, best gameplay, best musical scores of all time. That is what Donkey Kong Country is and always will be whether it's on Super NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance or the VC.

This game is awesome and when I was 2 I would wake up in the middle of the night and turn on the game and TV.
Diddy Kong Lover said:
Good music, good gameplay, and lots of Diddy Kong. DK 64 was the best though Stickerbrush Symphony was my favorite in the soundtrack.
Diddy Kong Lover said:
Stickerbrush is the best music in the series is what I meant to say. Oh how I wish you could find DK games like this now a days, Jungle Climber was playable, Jungle Beat was excellent but tiring but Bongo Blast sucked.
