Publishers Rockstar have really struggled to get Manhunt 2 approved for release in the UK, where it was initially banned.
Several appeals later, it was uncertain whether the game would ever see the light of day in the region. Now though a breakthrough has come, the independent Video Appeals Committee has forced the BBFC to rate Manhunt 2, albeit with an 18 certificate.
The official Rockstar statement reads:
"We are pleased that the VAC has reaffirmed its decision recognizing that Manhunt 2 is well within the bounds established by other 18+ rated entertainment. Rockstar is committed to making great interactive entertainment, while also marketing our products responsibly and supporting an effective rating system".
Perhaps this isn't even important any more, the game has received mediocre reviews. Since the release of Freeloader, UK gore fiends might prefer to import the uncut version anyway.

Wow, I guess I this site is going to have to gear up for my next review. It's not exactly following the past format of my past reviews. It's more.. of cracking down on the prevarication of the game's influence.
