Wow
Super Metroid was recently brought to Wii U's Virtual Console, and I am glad that Nintendo released this one so quickly in the console's lifespan. Back in the early to mid 90s, the SNES's heyday, Nintendo and 3rd parties tended to put the word "Super" before anything, while...read full review

This is not only the best side-scrolling Metroid title ever, it's the best virtual console game available. But that's my opinion. Don't try to sway me or say anything bad.

One thing, corruption is much better but this game is still good.

This brings back some memories. Played this at my grandma's house. Boy was it hard back then.

This game is not just SUPER for nothing. What more super could you do with a hyper beam, a spinning screw attack, a grabbling beam, a light helmet for searching hidden items, twelve of the most formidable bosses in videogame history. Seven layers of hell(Crateria, Brinstar, Tourian, Norfair, Haunted Ship, Meridian, and Mother Brain's Lair) in one ghastly planet. A boat load of goodies to find, more moves and technique to master and best of all, you could possibly do what you want without anyone's concern. It's because of this that Symphony of the Night existed and copy its atmosphere and world map as well as the many features from this game to make it there own. It's too bad new born gamers never had the chance to play this game and never realize its this game that made the Prime series past its prime because when old-school gamers are still battling Kraid, Ridley, Phantoon, and many other bad-ass monsters in Zebes, new born gamers are still sucking their bottle.

I also agree with Randolph, this was one of the aces in the hole that Nintendo hooked me with. Even if the game wasn't as perfect as it is, just the nostalgia alone is pretty sweet. I'd rate this as either top 1 or 2 game ever made by Nintendo.
