Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
Published by Sega, Developed by Sega
Genres: Party (4 players)
US release date: Nov 19th, 2006 | EU release date: Dec 8th, 2006
AiAi and all his friends have rolled their way onto Nintendo's new console with new mind-blowing puzzle levels and a wealth of new and exciting Party Games specifically designed to fully exploit the innovative Nintendo Revolution controller. Other titles will have a difficult time matching the multitude of possible variations in game control as presented in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.
"The Nintendo Revolution presents a totally unique avenue for our developers to explore the art of game design," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz will present a mind-boggling array of gameplay innovations that will excite and challenge gamers while pushing the boundaries of imagination forward."
The single-player puzzle levels in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz have been innovatively designed to challenge gamers' skills like never before. For the first time in the Super Monkey Ball franchise, AiAi and his friends will have the ability to jump when players flick the Nintendo Revolution controller in an upward motion. The ability to jump has given game designers another dimension in which to expand the Super Monkey Ball gameplay experience and allows gamers a whole new way to interact with the franchise; this time in true three-dimensional fashion.
The Party Games, for which the Super Monkey Ball franchise is famous, return with more variety than ever. An abundance of new Party Games have been creatively designed to take advantage of the Revolution controller in a multitude of ways. Gamers will find themselves competing in a traditional game of ring toss, or even smacking pesky moles in a game of "Whack-a-Mole." Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz's large library of Party Games is sure to inspire friendly competition anytime.
Good
I've been a fan of the Monkey Ball series since the original debuted on the Gamecube (RIP you misunderstood gem) back in 2001. So of the Wii's launch games, Banana Blitz stood out to me as one of the 'must gets'. Any regrets? *drumroll* I initially thought the Wiimote would...read full review

Looking good! Loved the SMB games on cube. Hope the wiimote can do it justice.

Awesome series, so much fun ^_^

How do you get a monkey in a ball anyway??
Rags.exe said:
Not a big fan of SMB but I might try it for the Wii, just might.
Wii'R'Us said:
Haven't played any monkey ball games, but I think this is gonna be good with the controller.
Mal said:
I've played a monkey ball game before on game cube it's wicked I hope this one will be as fun as the other one.

I love monkeys.
Noah of Nintendo Bunker said:
Monkeys in bubbles, how lame can you get?
Someone cooler than you said:
Noah of Nintendo Bunker, how annoying can you get? This looks cool! Will it play the same way has the other SMB games?
NICE said:
That looks really good. I just wish you could give us more than screenshots.
splintercell4ever said:
Woohoo, torturing monkeys by putting them into round objects and making them suffer for our own pleasure. This is what America has become. PETA will be all over this one.
Lord Random said:
I dunno, never really liked the idea of Monkey Ball. And to be honest, Noah's got a point. You might as well just play a 3d Pac man game for all I care.
PHiRE said:
SMB is nothing like pac man, it's more obstacle based like marble madness but with a lot of mini-games. I suggest you play it and get a clue.
PHiRE said:
I have the DS monkey ball game and the stylus control is poor, much easier to use the D-pad. I hope they can do a better job of it with the wiimote.

I've got the balls to play this game!

Please be better than Super Monkey Ball Adventure.
wii-mote dude said:
Oh, I hope they have Monkey Fighter. I had a strange obsession with beating people up as Baby.
aaron said:
This game's going to rock, definitely getting this at launch.
Captain Jamesman said:
This game was wicked when I first saw it. I have all the Monkey Ball games. With new stuff like jumping and fighting bosses, this game will be Sega's next best thing. How come Monkey Ball Adventure never had bosses?
DarkVic said:
Looks wacky, in a good way. Although it's a game I would rather rent.
wii-mote dude said:
That looks pretty nice for a monkey ball game.
joe said:
I'm getting it.
Must..have..wii said:
Never played the monkey balls (man that sounds wrong) but yeah, I may rent it.
wii maniac said:
This is going to be awesome! Wii rox!
bobberticus said:
Super monkey ball is amazingly fun (although it over-does the gay in super monkey ball 2, with the weird story and stuff)
it seems like a game that could be totally perfect with the wii controller, but I guess we will soon find out!
wii-mote dude said:
The super monkey ball games are very good ones to rent, because you can beat them quickly if you try. And the puzzles are very fun, too. Although, the multiplayer mode is pretty awesome, so if you REALLY like it, you should buy it.
Dan said:
Super monkey ball 1 and 2 are awesome! Super Monkey Ball Adventure was pretty bad. Hopefully this one will be better.
creepy caucasian said:
I wonder if it'll actually have a storyline this time around. Don't get me wrong, I loved Super Monkey Ball on da cube!
Captain Jamesman said:
It had a storyline in SMBA.
Sonic Fan said:
My dad told me that Super Monkey Ball was fun.
Fox mcloud said:
I played it and the mini-games were the only fun part.
Captain said:
Looks awesome. I especially like the new look. I'll be getting this game on launch. I've heard that there'll be 50 new mini games and 2 new characters! At last. It's about time SEGA created some new faces for their popular monkey series.
Captain Jamesman said:
50 mini games!? That's hella awesome! I'm going to get me a Wii this Christmas for sure. I heard the 2 new characters were called doctor & pai-pai (I think).
PHiRE said:
Is it Dr Bad-Boon again? Ehehe. Gotta love that name.
Captain Jamesman said:
Nope, it's a different Monkey! Not Dr. Bad-boon, just Doctor.
Scooby!_Jew said:
My brother said he's going to get this game when he gets a Wii, so I hope it's going to be really good.

VIVA TO THE GAME! It's awesome! I like the Dangerous Route Mini-Game & Pirates Ocean level.
Crimson Hawk said:
The pirates ocean level is awesome! I give the game thumbs up.
keekee said:
I love YanYan, and doctor the most.
Captain Jamesman said:
In short keekee, you like newbies (or n00bs) the best.
DarkVic said:
Who wouldn't love a monkey in a ball?
Robert said:
R1zza, do you mean SMB as in "Super Mario Bros.", or "Super Monkey Ball"? But yeah, I have this game and it ROCKS! Too bad I'm stuck on W4.
Captain Jamesman said:
I'm stuck on W6.
Crimson Hawk said:
I'm stuck on W6 too. And I would like a monkey in a ball DarkVic.
Starlight said:
I hope this is better than the super monkey ball for Nintendo DS. The DS version barely had any levels. I finished it all in 30 minutes. Or I might have not seen all the levels. Sorry if I am mistaken. But this does look like a lot of fun.
Scooby Jew said:
Ah, the screenshots that started it all; Wii's World's first news archive. I just realized I've been following Wii's World's news for a little over a year now. Happy anniversary.
some guy said:
It looks really cool actually.
Courtney said:
I have this game, it is awesome. I play it every day and it has over 100 levels. If you haven't tried it you're missing out on a whole lot of fun, but be careful - you might get addicted to it.
