Yes this review is a bit late, but better late than never. I decided that I needed some sort of exercise this summer and thought Wii Fit could do the job. After about two weeks of straight exercising (sort of), I can say that it performed at about par to my expectations.

I have to say, this looks cheesy, yet cool at the same time. Wii Fit will do wonders after packing on the pounds this Holiday. Genius, pure genius.

That chick in screenshot #1 is hot. Oh, right, Wii Fit: I think it's just yet another brilliant piece of innovation brought to us by the geniuses of Nintendo. Will they ever stop being so original and badass? I don't think so.

It's oddball stuff like this that rewarded Nintendo the crown at this stage of the Console War; it allows for the technologically illiterate to play something they already know how to do: pilates, pirouettes and push-ups.

Oh my god, "cheezy" is not really meant to be offensive. I think it's the fact that a video game console is ironically being used as a weight loss tool. Wii Fit is potentially more revolutionary than Wii Sports in it's aim to attract "casual" gamers. Once people see fitness as being more accessible and fun, then there's no stopping Wii. If Nintendo were smart, they would include online group exercise sessions and "leaderboards" to see who's the fittest. Of course, you can go to a REAL gym with REAL workout equipment, but I hope that Wii Fit can justify the contrary by delivering a unique fitness experience with this title.

It looks like fun, might cut back on obesity because people don't realize they can do it at home without anything. And if you think about it, obese people tend to watch tv and play video games.

I've only noticed activities that will only tone and define. The best way to lose weight is through cardio, however, theoretically by adding muscle, you're boosting the amount of calories you burn over-all (did I just negate myself?). Therefore, overtime you might lose some weight, but this won't be a cure-all. On that note, does Wii fit have any cardio exercises? WITH that said, I am totally looking forward to this. It will be a great thing to do in between pilates classes or after a good run.
barksdale said:
I'm most excited about the balance board, think it could work great with numerous games, like skiing, snowboarding, shooting games where you could move down and up etc. From what I've seen so far, wii fit lacks the cardio and weight training, which is why I'll probably just stick to the gym. But definitely a good idea for people and children who are out of shape and not going to the gym. So guess I'll probably just buy the balance board alone when more games are made for it.
pjtos said:
I just hope they have a plug-in for the board, I could definitely see it draining batteries quickly.

Well I think Wii fit looks amazing and I can't wait until it comes out. It's expensive but I think it's worth it. Has anybody here actually played it? Is it actually good or no?
barksdale said:
Yeah I caved in after all, was too curious to see what the balance board could do. It's actually pretty good I think, a lot of the games are fun and some of them will get you working up quite a sweat. There's a lot of different exercises/mini-games, and some of course more fun than others. Haven't played it for more than a day so can't say about the game durability, but for now it's definitely fun and I would recommend it. What strikes me most is definitely the balance boards huge potential. It's really accurate and can't wait until more games are being developed for it.

This game looks great and is going to be as big as it was in Japan in the USA. Heads up everyone, I'd reserve it because it seems like it's going to be hard to get otherwise. I work at a video game store and we're on our 2nd shipment of reserves.
